Team airik has lately began to get a lot of old riders. With 8 riders over 30 years it was time to make a change. Riders like Zelda and Cernat have been an important part of the modern team airik for many seasons now, but it is time for them to take their warm milk and cookies and find new adventures.
As part of the renewing, we are bringing up some exciting young and promising riders. Firstly, we decided to have a go at cobblestone, and bought the Norwegian Høyland to the team to help us. Høyland was an instant success, by almost on his own brought the team back in division 1, and bringing home a podium in the classic Roubaix Paris! The plan is to use Høyland while he still drinks his milk cold and then leave the responsibility over to our new talent, Rune Horn. Already finishing 8th in a top division race with all teammates on practice makes us really excited for the future of this young cobbler.
To replace Zelda, we have brought up Odd Monsen from our own academy and his progress on the trainingfield makes us very optimistic about his chances in the future. Being the oldest trainee team Airik has ever had, we trust his experience to help him succeed.
Due to the fact that we soon will have to replace Eilif Solem and Ernst Krogh too, we have decided to bring in a promising young German named Kurt Stemme, who will mainly support our sprinters but maybe also try to get some results on his own. It's an interesting time to be a fan of the greatest team in OCM sports!
